Picture post!

So the husband and I have been going prawning and fishing very regularly. Decided to put some photos up of the few spots we often go to. :)

I noticed that prawning and fishing ponds have become very popular in our little country. The places that we go to are always filled with families, and young couples. I definintely prefer this activity to clubbing anytime.

We started off getting addicted to prawning first. I actually started a few years back but I picked it back up about a year ago with the husband and I'm proud of our results. :) Went around exploring different prawning locations in singapore to compare the bite rate and prawn sizes.

I have to say, Hai Bin Prawning at Bishan is still the best so far. They release prawns regularly, and the size of the prawns have been getting bigger and bigger. The boss of the place is a friendly, stout man with a thick moustache. Hubby and I even got our own personal rods as well as special "secret" bait that makes the prawns bite fast.

Hai Bin at Bishan is a really central location, and they have a small coffeeshop that sells food and drinks till late. They even telecast live soccer matches, and they have dart machines too.

Our regular catches :

enjoying his prawns. YUMMY. :)

I can never get enough of these awesome prawns!! The counter also provides free a special homemade chilli sauce that is super orgasmic and to die for. :) Great place to hang out with friends, or bring the family to for an outing. We always take the hour bundle packages but they start from $18/hour.

Of course, we started fishing too.

Headed out sea to a Kelong for an overnight trip with hubby's bosses a while back. The catch rate was low so we ended up monkey-ing around and started fishing in the Kelong's ponds instead of the sea. There was even a "personal assistant" Indian man who helped us set up the BBQ and stuff.

But of course, the guys fell asleep first. They could just pick a random wooden bench and lie down. So I ended up watching the Sun rise from the kelong myself. But it was a great experience away from society. :)

Next, hubby and I went to check out another Hai Bin outlet at Punggol since it's near our house. They have prawning as well, but the prawns are really tiny. But this location is always packed with people because there is a Billiard Hall and a few outdoor pubs that are perfect for relaxing. But we came to check out the freshwater Patin pond.

It's only $5/rod, and you can keep reusing the same rod to catch as many fishes as you can till you snap the fishing line. Then it will be another $5 again. Hubby and his old time buddy Adrian managed to catch many fish with just one rod each. Many other people could do it too. I KEPT SNAPPING MINE THOUGH but it was very fun. :)

Hubby brought the Patin fish over to his auntie's place and she steamed it for us for dinner the next night. It is a very fatty fish but it tasted good. :)

Just a bit further down is another pond called Angler's Paradise. They have a wider variety of fishes and it's hubby's new favorite pond fishing spot. It is located next to the Driving Range. They have freshwater, saltwater fish pond and prawning too.

Just for $5/rod, there's many fishes in the pond to be caught. Patin, Toman, Pagu, Songhe, Tilapia and Carps. There's also a saltwater pond that uses reel but it's for the more advanced fishers. :)
